 What is your scene like?
Where do the good shows happen? Basements, VFWs, venues, churchs?
Is there one genre that us super popular right now or a good mix?
How many kids make a good show?
I know not every place is the same and there are definitely people from a lot of different places on the board (which is awesome and thank you) and I'm always interested in knowing what's up in other places.
There used to be a much larger scene in western ma when I was younger, it'd be nice to have that back

Re: What is your scene like?
i'm in san francisco, ca. as it is probably obvious, the largest scene is the indie/hipster. the punk scene struggles to survive, they've mostly turned to hardcore and the metal scene is almost inexistent, at least inside the city. good venues... depending what you want to see. there's this place where all my friends' bands play called Kimo's that does mostly punk shows. there's Cafe Du Nord, which is an amazing indie venue. there's the legendary Fillmore where i saw Dinosaur Jr back in november & Sonic Youth in january. there's the Independent, where slightly smaller bands play (although i saw David Bazan play there in october). also, Cafe Revolution that's been presenting classical concerts lately. and, of course, Bottom of the Hill, Slims, the Elbo Room & The Knockout. there are so many bands in this city, they pretty much play anywhere. i go to at least 3 shows a week, at bars, basements, clubs and even outdoors.

Re: What is your scene like?
I'm living in Philly now and I think the biggest scenes are indie, hardcore, there is a definite big punk scene too oh and dancing. lots of dance parties. It seems that the most shows that happen are indie bands; lots of things that sound shimmery haha But I primarily go to hardcore shows so I don't know much about anything else.
There is just about every type of venue going on here. we have the obvious huge stadiums, the bigger venues, smaller theaters, a few bars, 1 church and a few houses/warehouses. It's pretty awesome actually. As far as attendance goes I've been to shows with a handful of people and they can be just as awesome as a huge crowd, just depends on the people really.
But I do have to say I deeply miss the CT scene. Going to shows every weekend at the wallingford amleg and vfw's all over the place. Everytime I come home I try to go to a show and it always makes me so happy to see faces I grew up with still supporting bands we still love.

I fear CT is growing stale.

Re: What is your scene like?
Western MA did awhile ago. It's tough. Their are pockets of really cool shows and some areas that kinda have little niche scenes but I don't get the sense of community there use to be. I don't really get the vibe that people drive more than like a few miles to go see a show, which is sort of a bummer.
The whole skramz / screamo / hardcore thing is alive and well in the area. Crappy bar rock / nu-metal is super prevalent. What else. The Flywheel reopening its doors in April I think (read: hope) will be a catalyst for a lot more community involvement in the area music scene in general.

Re: What is your scene like?
Baltimore's scene is pretty diverse.
We got a pretty big "Art Scene" (Animal Collective, Beach House)
A LOT of Hardcore some great, some good, some really bad.
Not very many skramz bands but a decent amount
and A whole lot of crusty metal or stoner rock.

Re: What is your scene like?
i live in northern NJ. the scene here is pretty sweet. montclairs got a venue that gets some sweet shows and has some bands i'm into (acres, baby pilot, aviary). brooklyn isn't too far so there's always something going on there.
